SPONDYLARTHROSIS
Spondylarthrosis involves a chronic, degenerative disease of the vertebral joints caused by wear and tear (progressive facet syndrome). This leads to instabilities, which often have a painful effect.
Causes of spondylarthrosis lie in the degeneration of the intervertebral discs (disc degeneration), and the associated reduction in the intervertebral space. This leads to a failure of mechanical stabilization, which in turn favors incongruities (“stone no longer fits on stone”), overload conditions and arthrosis processes in the vertebral joints. Typical features are a narrowing of the joint space, sclerosis and marginal spur formation.
The symptoms caused by spondylarthrosis are very diverse. Muscle tension, back pain and vertebral blockages are possible. Since the nerve root emerging from the spinal canal runs in the immediate vicinity of the vertebral joint, a compression or irritation of the nerve roots often occurs (lumbalgia, ischialgia or cervicobrachial syndrome). Stenoses can also occur in the further course.
Depending on the degree of spondylarthrosis, SpineMED® therapy is useful. Even if complete freedom from symptoms is often impossible in patients with advanced spondylarthrosis, the symptoms can very often be significantly reduced with the help of SpineMED® therapy. SpineMED® therapy is highly recommended for incipient spondylarthrosis
