SCIATICA/ISCHIALGIA
Sciatic nerve pain is one of the most common causes of lower back pain and is based on mechanical irritation (pressure) on the sciatic nerve (Nervus Ischiadicus). Particularly common sciatica symptoms include pain that radiates from the lower lumbar spine directly into the leg.
The symptoms can also be accompanied by sensory disturbances such as tingling or numbness. This type of back pain can be caused by a displacement of the joints in the body, but also by a classic herniated disc. The pain occurs especially during activities such as lifting, bending or running.
In addition to palpation of the spine and a thorough examination of the joints, procedures such as X-rays, computed tomography, MRI or magnetic resonance imaging should be performed. A comprehensive medical diagnosis is essential to determine the exact cause of the back pain. The medical term for this painful nerve irritation is neuralgia.
SpineMED® therapy can be used very effectively for disc-induced sciatica symptoms. The aim here is to relieve pressure on the sciatic nerve and regenerate the intervertebral disc (rehydration).
